Bellegambe, a renowned artist of the 16th century, captivated audiences with his exquisite triptychs. One such masterpiece is the "Triptych of The Annunciation" housed in the Hermitage Museum. This triptych showcases Bellegambe's exceptional talent for capturing religious scenes with intricate detail and emotional depth. In the "Triptych of The Annunciation, " Bellegambe depicts the pivotal moment when Archangel Gabriel announces to Mary that she will bear God's son. The central panel portrays this divine encounter, with Mary humbly accepting her fate as rays of heavenly light surround her, and is a scene filled with awe and reverence. On either side of the central panel are side panels that further enhance the narrative. In one, we witness Christ's lamentation after his crucifixion, while on the reverse side lies an intriguing depiction of Noli me tangere (Do not touch me), where Jesus warns Mary Magdalene against touching him after his resurrection.
