Bernard Friel, a man of wanderlust and adventure, has left his footprints in the most remarkable corners of America. From the solemn American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach to the breathtaking landscapes of Utah's Nine-mile Canyon, he has immersed himself in the rich history and natural wonders that this vast country offers. With an insatiable curiosity for aviation, Bernard found himself captivated by the B-17 G Flying Fortress. He marveled at its majestic presence as he captured close-up shots of its nose and cockpit, revealing every intricate detail. But it wasn't just war machines that fascinated him; Bernard also sought solace in nature's artistry. The Great Gallery Detail in Horseshoe Canyon within Canyonlands National Park left him spellbound with ancient petroglyphs etched into towering rock walls. And amidst the serene wilderness, he stumbled upon a Barred Owl roosting peacefully among pine trees in Minnesota. As twilight painted enchanting hues across North America's boundary waters between Minnesota and Ontario, Bernard stood mesmerized by early evening reflections dancing on calm waters. It was moments like these that reminded him of life's tranquility. Venturing further south to Imokalee, Florida, Bernard encountered a vibrant male Painted Bunting perched proudly—a sight so rare it took his breath away. In 2003, bpfriel immortalized this fleeting encounter through his lens. His passion for aviation resurfaced when he witnessed a P-51D Mustang Fighter adorned with D-Day markings soaring through azure skies—an emblematic tribute to those who fought bravely during World War II. Monument Valley beckoned him next—its iconic Mitten Buttes rising majestically against an endless horizon within Navajo Tribal Park. Here he reveled in Arizona-Utah's awe-inspiring beauty while capturing images of another North American P-51D Mustang named Little Horse gracefully gliding above red rock formations.
