The Britannia Bridge, a marvel of engineering and an iconic landmark, spans the Menai Strait in Gwynedd. From an aerial view, it stands proudly alongside its counterpart, the Menai Bridge, creating a breathtaking sight. Dating back to the 19th century, this bridge has witnessed significant historical events. The end tower and wingwall showcase its grandeur and strength. Engravings depict various stages of its construction - from the "Britannia" Tubular Railway Bridge to Stephenson's Iron Tunnel Railway Bridge. In one engraving titled "Present State of the 'Britannia' Tubular Railway Bridge, " we get a glimpse into how this magnificent structure looked during that era. Another engraving showcases the cylinder of the Great Hydraulic Press used for raising the Tubes – highlighting both innovation and ingenuity. Not only was this bridge a symbol of progress but also played a role in commemorating important figures like Mr Robert Stephenson. An engraving captures his funeral held in Westminster Abbey's nave with solemnity and reverence. The apparatus used for lifting the Tube is another testament to human skill and determination displayed during its construction phase. Its front elevation reveals intricate details while standing tall against nature's elements. As time passed by, Britannia Bridge stood strong as it celebrated its centenary amidst admiration from locals and tourists alike.
