"Catherine Benincasa: A Life of Devotion and Courage" Catherine de Ricci, also known as Catherine Benincasa, was an Italian Dominican nun who lived from 1413 to 1490. Born into a noble family in Siena, Italy, she entered the convent at just six years old and went on to become one of the most revered saints of her time. Known for her extraordinary devotion to prayer and penance, Catherine's life was marked by visions and ecstasies that left those around her amazed. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout her life, including poverty, illness, and persecution from without and within the Church itself, Catherine remained steadfast in her faith. Her legacy extends far beyond the confines of her convent cell - she inspired countless others to live a more virtuous life through her writings and example. Today, we remember this remarkable woman as Saint Catherine Benincasa, patron saint of Italy and model for all those seeking a deeper connection with God.
