The Avro Canada CF105 Arrow I, also known as the Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow Mark 1, was a groundbreaking aircraft that left an indelible mark on aviation history. With its sleek design and advanced technology, it represented the pinnacle of Canadian aerospace engineering. Developed in the late 1950s, the CF105 Arrow I was intended to serve as an interceptor for the Royal Canadian Air Force. Its impressive speed and altitude capabilities made it a formidable opponent against potential threats during the Cold War era. Powered by twin Pratt & Whitney J75 engines, this supersonic marvel could reach speeds exceeding Mach 2. Its delta-wing configuration allowed for exceptional maneuverability and stability at high altitudes. The CF105 Arrow I's cutting-edge avionics systems provided pilots with enhanced situational awareness and targeting accuracy. Despite its immense promise, tragedy struck when the program was abruptly canceled in 1959. The decision to halt production of this remarkable aircraft remains controversial to this day. Only five completed prototypes were ever built, including serial numbers 25201 and 25203. Nevertheless, even though it never saw active service or fulfilled its intended role as a defender of Canadian skies, the legacy of the CF105 Arrow I lives on. It stands as a testament to Canada's ingenuity in pushing boundaries within aerospace engineering. Today, these rare remaining artifacts are revered by aviation enthusiasts worldwide who recognize their historical significance.
