Chester Alan Arthur, the 21st President of the United States, was known for his impeccable style and dedication to reform. Born in Vermont in 1829, Arthur rose to prominence as a lawyer before entering politics. During his presidency from 1881 to 1885, Arthur worked tirelessly to modernize the navy and civil service system. He also championed civil rights for African Americans and Native Americans.
