In the depths of the sea, a young mermaid named Ariel gazed longingly at a statue. It was her dream to become human and explore the world above. This enchanting illustration brought to life Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale, "The Little Mermaid. " The vibrant colors of this lithograph captured the magic and wonder of Ariel's journey. Another captivating illustration depicted "The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood, " a timeless tale that has captivated generations. The intricate details showcased the princess peacefully slumbering amidst a thorny forest, waiting for true love's kiss to awaken her from her deep sleep. Transporting us back in time, an engraving from 1880 portrayed two officers singing about their contrasting attire - one carrying a mighty sword while his companion stood empty-handed. The verse painted a vivid picture of their distinct personalities and roles within their ranks. Continuing with this whimsical theme, another engraving showcased couples twirling gracefully on an elegant dance floor. Their elaborate costumes and graceful movements evoked images of grand balls held in magnificent castles. From high atop a tower, Madame eagerly awaited her page's return as depicted in yet another enchanting engraving. Her anticipation was palpable as she peered into the distance, hoping for news or perhaps even an unexpected surprise. Meanwhile, we find ourselves immersed in yet another scene where guards surround Duke who had no more soldiers left to give. In unity and defiance against adversity, they sing back to him with unwavering loyalty - showcasing camaraderie amidst challenging times. Amidst all these tales of fantasy and adventure lies an amusing moment captured by an engraving from 1880: Mother Michel screaming out her window while Mr. Lustucur reassures her that his mischievous cat Moumouth is not lost after all. This lighthearted verse adds humor and charm to our collection of illustrations.
