One notable example is the Midland Railway 4-4-0 steam locomotive number 1738, which was built in Derby in November 1885. This magnificent machine showcased the engineering prowess of its creators and became an iconic symbol of progress. Another noteworthy member of this class is the Midland Railway Class 3, 4-4-0 steam locomotive number 740. Originally built as number 830 in Derby in 1903, it exemplified the continuous improvements made by the company over time.
