Claudius Domitius Caesar Nero, commonly known as Nero, was a Roman emperor who ruled from 54 to 68 AD. He is remembered for his extravagant lifestyle and controversial reign. Throughout history, various coins have depicted different aspects of Nero's life and rule. One such coin is the Aureus portraying Nero Claudius Drusus, issued by Claudius between 41 and 45 AD. This coin highlights the familial ties between Claudius and Nero. Another notable coin is the Sestertius portraying Emperor Nero himself, created by an unknown artist in 65 AD. This coin showcases his image during his early years as emperor. Coins featuring Germanicus are also significant in understanding Nero's legacy. The Sestertii portraying Germanicus were minted between 37-38 AD and again between 50-54 AD by unknown creators. These coins depict Germanicus, who was considered a hero figure during that time period. Moving forward to later years of his reign, we find coins portraying Emperor Nero himself once again. Coins minted between 66-67 AD and December 67-December 68 AD show him in all his regal glory on Aurei issued under his own name. The Sestertii depicting Emperor Nero from around the same period (54-69 AD) further emphasize his prominence as a ruler but also hint at the controversies surrounding him. In addition to these numismatic representations of power, another intriguing artifact related to justice can be found: Justitia (Justice) from Los Honores in Flanders dating back to1525/32AD - its creators remain unknown till today.
