"Exploring the Rich Tapestry of Collodion: A Glimpse into Southeast Asia, India, Egypt, and Beyond" Step back in time to the 1880s in Southeast Asia's Philippines, where vibrant girls and women adorned themselves with collodion. This traditional cosmetic was a symbol of beauty and cultural pride. Journey further east to India during the 1860s when the Amir of Kabul, Afghanistan proudly wore collodion as a mark of his regal status. Meanwhile, young maharajas and their officials donned this exquisite adornment as they ruled over their kingdoms. Intriguingly preserved within layers lies a full-length Egyptian mummy from ancient times. Its enigmatic presence offers us a glimpse into the rituals and beliefs surrounding death in that era. Crossing continents to Calcutta's Hooghly River in India reveals bustling scenes with large ships majestically sailing through its waters. The air is filled with anticipation as trade flourishes along this vital waterway. Venturing westward to St. James Street in Montreal, Canada transports us to another era - one captured by collodion photography around c. 1900. The street comes alive with people going about their daily lives amidst stunning architectural marvels. The Holy Land beckons next; specifically Palestine or Israel circa 1900 where we find ourselves standing before Rachel's tomb - an iconic site steeped in religious significance for centuries past.
