The common chimpanzee, scientifically known as Pan troglodytes, is a fascinating species closely related to other great apes such as the Hylobates sp. , Pongo pygmaeus (orangutan), and Gorilla gori (gorilla). These intelligent creatures exhibit a wide range of behaviors and characteristics that make them truly remarkable. In one captivating image, we see a male chimpanzee scratching its leg in the midst of lush vegetation within a National Park. This individual belongs to the subspecies Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii, found in Central Africa. Another heartwarming scene captures an infant chimpanzee aged 7 months clinging onto its mother's back in Conkouati-Douli National Park, Republic of Congo. The bond between mother and child is evident even among these primates. A female chimpanzee from the same subspecies gazes directly into the camera for her portrait.
