Costumbrists, also known as costumbrismo artists, were masters of capturing the essence and spirit of their time through vivid illustrations and paintings. From historical events to everyday scenes, these talented individuals brought life to their subjects with incredible attention to detail. One such artist was Edouard Pingret (1788-1875), whose famous work "Arrival of King Louis-Philippe" showcased the grandeur and pomp surrounding a royal event. Another notable piece was Carlos Juliao's (1740-1814) illustration depicting a traditional fandango, which beautifully portrayed the energy and passion of this Spanish dance. Carlos Arniches (1866-1943), a renowned Spanish playwright, used his artistic skills to capture moments from his own plays in stunning visuals. Meanwhile, Carlos Enrique Pellegrini (1800-1875) depicted lively tertulias - social gatherings where intellectuals would engage in discussions on various topics. Jean-Baptiste Colbert (1619-1683), a French statesman, left behind captivating artwork that reflected the elegance and sophistication of his era. Juan L.
