From the sandy shores of Whitby, North Yorkshire, where ancient Whitby Church overlooks traditional lobster pots on the quayside, to the sun-soaked beaches of St Brelades Bay, Jersey, where vintage crab traps were once used in the 1930s - the art of crab fishing has remained a cherished tradition. Silent Beach in Oregon, Coos Bay, showcases a vibrant array of colorful crab traps, while Crescent City marina in Northern California stores them, ready for the next catch. Elvas, Portugal, displays a picturesque scene of fishing traps and motorboats along the beach. Traveling across the Atlantic, we find ourselves in the 1920s at St Brelades Bay, Jersey, and in present-day Alaska, Kodiak, where crab traps with buoys continue to dot the coastline, preserving the rich history and culture of this ancient craft.
