Danny Shimmin, a legendary motorcycle racer, left an indelible mark on the world of motorsports with his exceptional skills and numerous victories. In 1984, alongside Graham Ruttle, he competed in the Formula One TT race representing Suzuki and Kawasaki respectively. Their fierce rivalry made for an exhilarating spectacle that had fans on the edge of their seats. But this was not Danny's only triumph; in 1975, riding for Harrison Yamaha, he conquered the Junior Manx Grand Prix. His talent knew no bounds as he continued to dominate races throughout his career. In 1977, astride a Seymour Velocette bike, Danny secured victory in the Formula 2 TT event. His passion for racing led him to participate in various classic competitions as well. In 1996, mounted on an AJS 7R machine at the Junior Classic Manx Grand Prix, Danny showcased his unwavering determination and clinched another remarkable win. Throughout history, there have been unforgettable moments where Danny Shimmin shared podiums with other esteemed racers. The Lightweight Manx Grand Prix of 1972 witnessed a thrilling battle between Ernie Johnson (Yamaha), Phil Carpenter (Yamaha), and our very own Danny Shimmin (Yamaha). These three titans pushed themselves to their limits in pursuit of glory. In earlier years like 1969 when motorcycles roared through Isle of Man's roads during the prestigious Manx Grand Prix race series Ivan Hodgkinson (Norton) clashed fiercely against Danny Shimmin (Aermacchi). Their intense rivalry captivated audiences worldwide as they fought tooth and nail for victory. The Senior Manx Grand Prix held in 1972 saw yet another breathtaking performance from Danny Shimmin aboard his Crooks Suzuki bike. He demonstrated unparalleled skill that day leaving spectators awestruck by his sheer speed and precision. Not confined solely to Isle of Man events; Southern100 also witnessed Danny's brilliance.
