Dangerous corners and unidentified speed car drivers at Brands Hatch, Kent, England are no match for the mysterious allure of dark glasses. Captured in April 1991 by artist Brian O'Connor at Jackie McLean's Jazz Cafe in London, these shades exude an enigmatic charm. From Bootsy Collins style star-shaped mirrored lens sunglasses created by elope inc between 1993-2013 to the nonchalant hazards faced by racing drivers at Brands Hatch, these dark glasses hold a captivating power. They warn us to 'look out, beautiful' as we navigate through life's twists and turns. Idris Muhammad mesmerized audiences with his soulful beats at Ronnie Scotts in London back in 1998. His eyes hidden behind those alluring lenses captured by Brian O'Connor. Larry Braggs continued this legacy in 2013 under the watchful eye of Alan John Ainsworth's lens. In 1967, Roland Kirk graced the stage at Black Prince in Bexley, London wearing his signature dark glasses crafted by Brian Foskett. These spectacles became symbols of his unique musical genius. Even during moments of chaos like the Carnival Mayor Kidnap in Lostwithiel, Cornwall in July 1993 or Frank Wess' performances from the swinging sixties documented again by Brian Foskett; these shades remain steadfast guardians of coolness and intrigue. The Walker Brothers donned their dark glasses while attending The Variety Club Awards at The Savoy Hotel in London while REM and Del Amitri rocked Cardiff Arms Park before a massive audience who couldn't help but be captivated by Michael Stipe's charismatic performance on that unforgettable night. Whether shielding our eyes from danger or adding an air of mystery to our look, they have become timeless accessories that transcend eras and genres. They allow us to hide behind their tinted lenses while revealing only what we choose.
