Mlle. Lyska Kostio, a passionate collector of dolls, has curated an enchanting world filled with these cherished companions. Her collection spans across various eras and mediums, capturing the essence of doll-making throughout history. One notable piece in her collection is "Ive a Letter from the Sire, Baby Mine, Baby Mine. " - a captivating print from 1874-1875 that depicts the tender bond between a child and her doll. The artist beautifully portrays the innocence and love shared between them. Another remarkable artwork adorning Mlle. Kostio's walls is "In The Morning Room, " an oil on canvas masterpiece created between 1906-10. This painting transports us to a serene space where dolls are arranged meticulously, each exuding its unique charm and personality. Delving into cultural diversity, we find "Woman in Cornish traditional costume with Corn Dollies. " This photograph captures both tradition and artistry as it showcases intricate corn dollies crafted by skilled hands. These creations symbolize fertility and protection within Cornish folklore. The dedication of outstanding workers shines through as they paint eyes onto 900 dolls per day collectively. Their meticulous craftsmanship ensures that every doll comes to life with expressive gazes that captivate hearts young and old alike. A glimpse into history reveals "Young girl with doll" - an oil on canvas painting dating back to approximately 1884. Here we witness the timeless joy experienced by children as they embrace their beloved companions; their imaginations soaring beyond boundaries. "The vow" presents another fascinating perspective on dolls – this painting tells a story of devotion through two figures exchanging vows while holding their treasured dolls close to their hearts. It reminds us how these simple objects can hold immense sentimental value for individuals across cultures. "Waking, " an oil on canvas masterpiece from 1865-67, evokes emotions as it portrays a peaceful scene where a child awakens alongside her doll.
