Eastern Orthodox is a rich and diverse religious tradition that encompasses various countries and cultures. In Serbia, the magnificent Sveti Sava Orthodox Church in Belgrade stands tall as the largest Orthodox church in the world, showcasing stunning architectural beauty. Moving to Macedonia, the Sveti Jovan at Kaneo Church, dating back to the 13th century, overlooks Lake Ohrid during a serene morning. Ukraine also boasts its own treasures with Pechersak Lavra, an ancient monastery known as Monastery of the Caves. The Eastern Orthodox faith is deeply rooted in its icons and artwork. One such icon depicts Abraham and Sarah serving three angels in Mamre's grove from Genesis 18:1-15; this Byzantine masterpiece dates back to the late 14th century. Another iconic representation showcases Moses standing before the burning bush at St. Catherine's Monastery in Sinai. The Virgin of Theodore Stratilates with miracles captivates viewers with its egg tempera on wood technique from 1759. Meanwhile, arcade murals inside churches like those found at the Church of Nativity depict religious figures and scenes that inspire devotion. Orthodox chapels can be found even amidst snow-covered landscapes like Krasnoyarsk region's cross-shaped chapel—a symbol of faith enduring through harsh winters. The Ukrainian countryside welcomes visitors with picturesque village churches that serve as spiritual sanctuaries for local communities. In Rivne, Holy Resurrection Cathedral proudly represents Ukrainian Orthodoxy while Saint Volodymyr's Cathedral stands majestically as Mother Cathedral Of The Ukrainian capital city Kyiv—a testament to their strong religious heritage. Not limited to places of worship alone, Eastern Orthodoxy extends compassion towards victims of tragedies such as Chernobyl nuclear disaster—Vinnytsya houses a monument dedicated to their memory.
