Helene Edlund (1857-1942): A pioneering Swedish photographer, known for her captivating portraits of people in traditional costumes from various regions of Sweden and Lapland. From young girls in fur-trimmed jackets and scarves (1886-1910) to Sami women adorned in intricate folk costumes (1890-1900), her images offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Edlund's photographs also feature women in holiday costumes from Northern Öland (1880-1907) and Dala-Floda (1890-1900), as well as studio portraits of women in national costumes (1906) and two young women in different traditional outfits (1890-1920). Her work also includes portraits of individuals, such as Mattias Årén from Frostviken, Lapland (1890-1900), and Nejla Åren (1890-1900), as well as group photos of people wearing Sami folk costumes (1912). Edlund's photographs not only showcase the beauty of traditional Swedish and Sami clothing but also convey the warmth and character of her subjects, making them a valuable historical record and a source of inspiration.
