FE Elgood was a force to be reckoned with in the world of motorsports during the early 20th century. With his trusty Bentley by his side, he fearlessly competed in various trials and rallies, leaving a lasting impression on spectators and fellow racers alike. In 1930, at the MCC Exeter Trial held in Ibberton Hill, Dorset, FE Elgood showcased his skills behind the wheel of his Bentley. The crowd watched in awe as he maneuvered through challenging terrains with finesse and precision. It was clear that this man had an undeniable passion for speed and adventure. Four years later, at the Mid Surrey AC Barnstaple Trial in 1934, FE Elgood once again took center stage with his open 4-seater Bentley. This time, he pushed himself even further, conquering obstacles that seemed insurmountable to others. His determination knew no bounds as he raced towards victory. The year 1937 proved to be a remarkable one for FE Elgood as he triumphed at the prestigious MCC Torquay Rally. Behind the wheel of his beloved Bentley, he emerged victorious and claimed a premier award. This achievement solidified him as one of the greats in motorsport history. However, it wasn't just racing where FE Elgood's talents shone brightly; he also had an artistic side. Renowned artist George Samuel Elgood captured breathtaking scenes like Barncluith in Lanarkshire and Dr. Lettsoms House in Camberwell through his skilled brush strokes. Elgood's love for beauty extended beyond landscapes; it encompassed gardens too. In paintings such as "An Italian Garden, " "Upper Terrace Villa Imperiale Genoa, " and "Penshurst, " George Samuel Elgood depicted nature's splendor with vivid colors and meticulous details. FE Elgood's legacy lives on not only through his racing achievements but also through the art that immortalizes his name.
