Elisee, a name that echoes through time and across continents, holds within it tales of mysticism and divine intervention. From the banks of the river Salwen in Myanmar to the majestic Mount Hermon in Syria, Elisee's presence is felt. In 1895, artist Armand Kohl captured the essence of Elisee's journey through his brushstrokes. His paintings depict not only the physical landscapes but also the spiritual significance attached to them. The temples at Patan in Nepal stand as a testament to Elisee's encounters with ancient wisdom and enlightenment. The stories surrounding it can woven into religious texts and artworks throughout history. In a captivating oil painting from 1637, we witness "The Prophet Elisha Rejecting Gifts from Naaman. " This portrayal showcases Elisee's humility and refusal to accept worldly offerings. A beautifully illuminated initial from a c. 1440 antiphonary depicts Elisha donning Elijah's mantle, symbolizing his succession as prophet. Gold leaf adorns this precious parchment, highlighting the sacredness of this momentous event. Engravings bring further life to these narratives - one shows Elie being nourished by an angel in the desert while another portrays him listening intently to divine messages while prostrated before God. Yet another engraving captures their journey together as they traverse unknown paths. Elisha's miracles are vividly depicted on canvas - "Elisha Raising the Son of Shunamite" tells a tale of resurrection and hope painted with skillful strokes in 1881. Even after death, Elisha continues to inspire awe; according to 2 Kings 13:21, even when buried in his tomb, he possesses miraculous powers that can revive others. But let us not forget Elijah - his ascension into heaven amidst a whirlwind is immortalized in engravings dating back centuries.
