"Ex Voto: A Testament of Faith, Gratitude, and Miracles" Throughout history, ex-votos have served as powerful expressions of devotion and gratitude. These solemn relics bear witness to the unwavering faith and profound affection of individuals towards sacred places and divine figures. In 1640, King Louis XIII and Queen Anne of Austria presented a translation of Saint Anne's relic to Sainte-Anne d'Auray as an everlasting testament to their piety. This act symbolized their deep connection with this holy site. Notre-Dame de Laghet witnessed a remarkable ex-voto in 1862 when someone offered thanks for surviving an amputation. It stands as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, miracles can occur. The Madonna delle Grazie at Ardesio received an ex-voto in 1880 after an avalanche struck the mountains. This heartfelt offering acknowledges the protection granted by divine intervention during times of great danger. In 1673, renewed in 1823, the Breton and Dutch fleets clashed fiercely. The "Voeu des Arzonais" ex-voto at Sainte-Anne d'Auray commemorates this historic event while expressing gratitude for deliverance from perilous waters. Queen Mary Leszczynska sought divine intervention through Fr Archangel's visit to Saint Anne's church in June 1729. Her fervent prayer was answered with the birth of her son—a miracle celebrated through another ex-voto at Sainte-Anne d'Auray. On September 7th, 1729, MM du Presidial et de la Commune de Vannes offered a silver child to Saint Anne following the birth of Louis de France—the future dolphin—expressing immense gratitude for this joyous occasion.
