"Exhausted: From Ancient Warriors to Modern Times" From the Aztec warriors in 1521 to British troops after six days of fighting in 1944, exhaustion has been a constant companion throughout history. The battle of Hastings and the burning candle at both ends have left many feeling drained and weary. In Melton Mowbray Station, the railway sleeper serves as a reminder of those who have traveled long distances, seeking rest on their journeys. At Euston Station, another tired traveler collapses onto a railway sleeper, finding solace amidst the chaos. At the South Pole in January 1912, Henry Bowers pulls a string with sheer determination etched on his face. His exhaustion is palpable as he pushes himself beyond his limits for exploration. The Humorist Easter Number of 1938 brings some light relief amidst weariness. Laughter becomes an escape from fatigue as people find joy even in their most exhausted states. But it's not just humans who experience exhaustion; even animals like a young pug find respite on wooden benches when they can no longer keep their eyes open. "The end of a happy day" captures that moment when we collapse into bed after giving our all. It's that feeling of accomplishment mixed with utter fatigue that reminds us we've lived fully. So let us remember those moments when we feel utterly spent but also know that through exhaustion comes growth and resilience.
