Walker Evans captures the spirit of the New Deal era in these iconic images. In Reedsville, West Virginia (1936), a family stands proudly in front of their Resettlement homestead, part of President Roosevelt's efforts to alleviate poverty through agricultural programs. Contrastingly, in Eatonton, Georgia (1936), a sharecropper's family resides in a humble Briar Patch Project home. Meanwhile, advancements in technology brought about the advent of airmail service, as depicted in these vintage postcards of early airplanes in flight. Back in the bustling city of New York (ca. 1913), the General Post Office on Broadway and Park Row stood as a testament to the efficiency of the postal system. With 47 branches, 251 sub-stations, and 38 other post offices, it served as a hub for the entire city's mail distribution, including the offices of the U.S. District and Circuit Courts.
