In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, female cyclists were breaking barriers and defying societal norms. These brave women took to the streets on their bicycles, challenging traditional gender roles and embracing a newfound sense of freedom. One captivating engraving from 1889 titled "Eingestaendnis" depicts a tender moment between a man and his beloved lady. With love in his eyes, he admits his feelings while they ride together on a tricycle. This image captures the joyous spirit of these pioneering women who found love while pedaling through life. Another intriguing engraving from the same year showcases an adventurous scene titled "Hunting chickens and hares with the penny-farthing. " Here, we witness fearless female cyclists fearlessly pursuing their prey on these iconic high-wheeled bicycles. Their determination and skill demonstrate that nothing could stand in their way. The illustration by Paul Heydel titled "Kinder-Waerterin" transports us to 1889 when pushchairs resembled bicycles. This innovative design allowed nannies to effortlessly transport children while enjoying the thrill of cycling themselves. It exemplifies how even childcare duties couldn't hinder these women's passion for cycling. A fascinating glimpse into history is captured in an engraving from 1898 showcasing a tandem bicycle designed for three persons. This unique contraption symbolizes unity as couples or friends embarked on thrilling adventures together, sharing laughter and creating lasting memories along the way. Dr. Rowe's remarkable journey comes alive in a black-and-white photograph from 1936 as he greets Argentinian cyclists after completing an incredible two-and-a-half-year trip around the world by bicycle. His achievement serves as inspiration for all those who dare to dream big and embark on extraordinary journeys. Thomas Stevens' portrait reminds us that English cyclist was not only an adventurer but also made history as he became the first person to circumnavigate Earth solely by bicycle riding his trusty penny farthing.
