Brian Foskett, a talented photographer with an eye for capturing the essence of jazz legends, has left an indelible mark on the music world. From Paul Chambers' soulful bass lines in 1960 to Joe Morello's rhythmic mastery in London in 1968, Foskett's lens has immortalized these iconic moments. In 1991, at the Mstricht Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, B. B. King graced the stage and Foskett was there to capture his electrifying performance. The raw emotion emanating from King's guitar strings is palpable through Foskett's lens. The Queen Elizabeth Hall in London became a canvas for Foskett when he photographed Jack DeJohnette during his mesmerizing drum solo in 1989. The intensity and precision of DeJohnette's playing are beautifully captured by Foskett's keen sense of timing. Foskett had the privilege of documenting Miles Davis Quintet not once but twice - first in 1960 and then again later on. These photographs serve as a testament to Davis' innovative genius and showcase how he pushed boundaries within jazz music. Elvin Jones and his Jazz Machine took center stage at Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles, USA, in 1997. Through Foskett's lens, we witness Jones' explosive energy that radiated from every beat he played. Maynard Ferguson brought his virtuosity to life under Foskett’s watchful eye during a performance in 2000. The photograph captures Ferguson’s passion as he effortlessly hits those high notes that made him legendary. Lee Morgan exuded charisma during his performance captured by Brian Foskett back in 1961. This image showcases Morgan’s undeniable talent while also revealing glimpses into his vibrant personality. Astrud Gilberto enchanted audiences at Mstricht Jazz Mecca with her sultry voice in 1991.
