"Foundered: Tragic Tales of Ships Lost and Lives Changed" In this captivating cartoon, "The Dropped Pilot, " we delve into the world of a lost sailor struggling to find his way back home amidst the chaos of World War I. The haunting history of the White Star Line unfolds as we explore the ill-fated RMS Titanic. A column section from its luxurious restaurant serves as a poignant reminder of both opulence and tragedy. Meanwhile, aboard HMS Escort, an E-class destroyer, brave sailors face treacherous waters in their valiant efforts to protect their homeland. As if echoing the fate of the Titanic, divers embark on a perilous mission to recover objects from the shipwrecked Sirio off Spain's coast. The colourful lithograph captures both beauty and danger beneath the waves. "The Claw, " once renowned for salvaging countless treasures from shipwrecks, now lies at the bottom of the sea itself—a symbol of irony and loss depicted in another vivid lithograph. A macabre discovery awaits those who venture deep below—evidence that not all stories have happy endings can be found at these watery depths. Witnessing a mountain plunge abruptly into dark waters from an astonishing height is truly awe-inspiring. This dramatic lithograph showcases nature's power over man-made structures with chilling allure. In 1939, German battleship Graf von Spee engages in fierce combat against three English cruisers—an intense scene brought to life through vibrant colours on yet another striking lithograph. An engraving tells us about "Loss of an Emigrant Steam-Ship, " reminding us that even journeys filled with hope can end tragically when faced with unforeseen circumstances on treacherous seas. Lastly, we are confronted with heart-wrenching devastation as Germans sink Lusitania—a vessel carrying innocent lives caught up in war's merciless grip—as portrayed by a powerful colour lithograph depicting this massacre at sea.
