"Fur Lined: A Glimpse into History and Style" Step back in time with Alessandro Farnese (1546-92), the distinguished son of a noble family, who later became the Governor of the Netherlands. His portrait, painted with meticulous detail on panel, showcases his regal presence. King Henry VIII, depicted in an oil painting, exudes power and grandeur. The fur-lined attire adds an air of opulence to his already imposing figure. John Smeaton's 1779 oil on canvas captures a moment frozen in time. The subject's fur-lined coat hints at their status or perhaps provides warmth during colder days. In another captivating artwork, a man gazes out from an oil painting transferred onto canvas. The subtle inclusion of fur lining suggests both fashion and practicality during that era. Transport yourself to early 20th-century Paris through "L'Encens, le Cinname et la Myrrhe, " a pochoir print from La Gazette du Bon Ton. This elegant depiction showcases luxurious furs as part of high society fashion trends. Kate Stanton, a renowned singer from 1865 to 1880, remains shrouded in mystery as her creator is unknown. Yet her image wearing what appears to be a fur-trimmed garment speaks volumes about the glamour associated with performers of that era. Marthe Marie Tronchin comes alive through Jean-Etienne Liotard's brushstrokes in this exquisite portrait from 1758/61. Her sumptuous fur collar epitomizes elegance and refinement during the Rococo period. "Deux Heurs du Matin, " published in 1923 as a pochoir print, invites us into the world of Art Deco fashion. Fur accents adorn stylish ensembles worn by sophisticated women strolling along city streets at dawn. The intense gaze captured on canvas portrays Iusupov magnificently.
