"Harewood: A Royal Legacy and Rustic Charm" Step back in time to 1923, when the grand Harewood House witnessed the splendor of The Royal Family. Just a year before, Princess Mary's wedding to Viscount Lascelles took place here, filling the air with love and joy. But Harewood's history goes beyond royal weddings. In 1845, rustic sports unfolded in its picturesque park, offering a north view that captivated all who beheld it. The creator of this enchanting scene remains unknown but left behind an enduring legacy. While Weston Park in Shifnal, Shropshire may have its own allure, Harewood holds a special place as Princess Mary served as a Girl Guide Commissioner within these very grounds. Her dedication to empowering young girls echoes through time. The royal connection continues with Princess Mary's role as bridesmaid at the illustrious 1904 Royal Wedding. Witnessing her grace and elegance on such an occasion was truly remarkable. It also played host to distinguished guests like Edward VIII (later known as Duke of Windsor), Albert (George VI), and their beloved mother Queen Mary. These regal figures graced Harewood with their presence alongside King George V himself. Beyond royalty lies another facet of Harewood's charm - its collection of magnificent vehicles. From Burrell Tractor number 3618 named "The Scout" to Fowler Showman's Road Locomotive number 9381 called "Lady Betty, " each machine tells tales of bygone eras. Not forgetting Wallis and Steevens Road Roller number 7773 or Burrell Showman's Road Locomotive number 3526 known as "Lightning II. " These mechanical marvels add character to Harewood while reminding us of our industrial heritage. So come explore Harewood - where history intertwines with nature's beauty and where memories of royal celebrations and sporting events linger in the air.
