Meet Hermann, a man of many passions and interests. With his falconry equipment in hand, he embarks on thrilling adventures with the majestic gyrfalcon, Falco rusticolus. As he walks through the enchanting English oak forest, Quercus robur, Hermann feels connected to nature's beauty and strength. But there is more to Hermann than meets the eye. Inspired by August Hermann Francke's philanthropy, he dedicates himself to helping others just like Francke did centuries ago. Like wheat that nourishes our bodies or bread wheat that sustains communities, Hermann strives to make a positive impact in people's lives. In his tranquil garden filled with lemon trees bearing vibrant fruits of Citrus limon and cocoa beans from Theobroma cacao tree nearby, Hermann finds solace and joy. He contemplates the teachings of Gandhi while admiring Sonja Schlesin and Hermann Kallenbach's commitment to social justice. As night falls over his sanctuary, an unexpected visitor appears—the lesser false vampire bat Megaderma spasma glides gracefully under the moonlit sky. Fascinated by its mysterious nature, Hermann cherishes every encounter as a reminder of life's diversity. Amongst his vineyard adorned with luscious grapes from Vitis vinifera vines stands a lime tree Tilia ulmifolia offering shade and serenity, and is here where friends gather under its branches for laughter-filled conversations about life’s wonders. And finally, near the riverbank grows a magnificent black poplar tree Populus nigra—a symbol of resilience against adversity—reminding him that even amidst challenges one can find strength within themselves.
