"Reviving the Glory of Historic Formula Junior at Donington Park" The echoes of racing legends filled the air as vintage cars roared to life on Saturday, 30th March 2019, marking the highly anticipated season opener at Donington Park. The historic circuit became a time capsule, transporting spectators back to an era when speed and skill reigned supreme. Amongst the impressive lineup was CM12 6682 Ewen Sergison behind the wheel of his Brabham BT21, showcasing both power and finesse. CM12 5710 Graham Barron piloted his Gemini Mk II with precision while Mike Walker fearlessly tackled the track in his Bond FJ. Jeremy Mortimer's MG B left a trail of excitement in its wake as it weaved through corners effortlessly, leaving fans in awe. Each car carried with it a rich history and stories that seemed to come alive on this memorable day. The event showcased not only remarkable machines but also talented drivers who embraced their roles as custodians of automotive heritage. CM14 6172 Simon Goodliff maneuvered his Nike Mk1 with grace while CM12 5961 Simon Armer commanded attention in his March 703. Philip Ingle took control of a Lotus 20-22 (CM3 1444), displaying exceptional handling skills that paid homage to its legendary lineage. Peter Hawkey confidently navigated every turn in his Lotus 20 (CM3 1433), capturing hearts along the way. Richard Pugh pushed boundaries behind the wheel of Stanguellini (CM3 1327), reminding everyone why he is considered one of motorsport's finest talents. Iain Rowley mesmerized spectators with his flawless performance aboard Lotus22 (CM33 7959). As each lap unfolded, nostalgia mingled with anticipation for what lay ahead throughout this thrilling season opener. The HSCC had once again succeeded in creating an unforgettable experience, where the past and present merged seamlessly.
