Step back in time to the early 1900s in the picturesque Leicestershire village of Hoby. Witness the traditional haymaking process, a scene once captured by the artistic lens of the renowned photographer Artokoloro. This idyllic moment echoes the past, as Sir Philip Hoby, a local landowner from the 16th century, looks on from his effigy in Bisham church. Sir Philip, depicted in Hans Holbein the Younger's painting, was born in Hoby around 1532. His descendant, Sir Edward Hoby, an English diplomat and scholar of the late 16th and early 17th centuries, would have also known this landscape intimately. Melton LE14 3 Map marks the location of this quintessential English village, where the past and present intertwine, inviting us to cherish the beauty and history of rural England.
