From the battlefield to the racetrack and beyond, the humble horsebox has played a vital role in the lives of our equine friends. Wounded horses were transported to safety in Men of the Mounted Section of the Canadian Veterinary Corps' horseboxes during wartime. In peacetime, these vehicles became essential for transporting horses to shows and auctions, as seen in these vintage images from the New Forest Show, Brixton auctions, and Loxwood Show. A 1920s horsebox even helped three-time Grand National winner Red Rum make a grand entrance for the opening of the Rum Runner nightclub. And when the going gets tough, as in muddy carparks, a sturdy tractor comes to the rescue. Through all seasons and situations, the horsebox remains a trusted companion for our horses.
