Impressionist art, a revolutionary movement in the world of painting, emerged during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This artistic style aimed to capture fleeting moments and impressions rather than focusing on intricate details. The artists sought to convey their subjective experiences through vibrant colors, loose brushstrokes, and unconventional compositions. One notable example is "Cliffs near Fecamp" by an unknown artist in 1881. This oil on canvas masterpiece depicts towering cliffs against a backdrop of turbulent waves crashing onto the shore.
