Throughout history, insurrectionary leaders have ignited the flames of revolution, inspiring their people to rise against oppressive regimes. Nestor Makhno led the anarchist insurrection in Ukraine during the Russian Civil War, while Piotr Michalowski's painting "A Detachment of Krakusi" depicts Polish revolutionaries of the 19th century. Juan Lopez de Padilla, an insurgent leader in Spain during the Cantonal Revolution in Murcia, fought against Spanish rule in the early 16th century. In the Philippines, Emilio Aguinaldo and Miguel Malvar led their people in the struggle for independence from Spain in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This photograph captures Aguinaldo during his tenure as the first president of the Philippines, while Malvar was photographed in 1902 during the Philippine-American War. The spirit of revolution lives on, as evidenced by this parade in Vladivostok, showcasing the resilience and determination of the people to fight for their rights and self-determination.
