Jade, a precious stone revered for its beauty and significance, has captivated cultures throughout history. From the ancient Aztecs to the elegant women of the 1920s, jade holds a timeless allure. In Yu-Hoang, Taiwan, one can witness the breathtaking sight of an island adorned with lush greenery and surrounded by sparkling waters, and is here that jade's natural splendor truly shines. The Hei-Tiki Talisman, a symbol of fertility and protection in Maori culture, showcases jade's spiritual importance. Its intricate carving reflects the skill and craftsmanship passed down through generations. Hanoi, Vietnam offers another glimpse into jade's cultural significance at Ngoc Son Pagoda. The temple's incense offering creates an ethereal atmosphere as prayers are sent heavenward on fragrant smoke. Transporting us back to 1925 is a photograph capturing a woman dressed lavishly in clothing befitting her status. Her outfit exudes opulence with its tunic dress by Redfern featuring a draped tango skirt adorned with fur trimmings in rich jade green hues. Den Ngoc Son Temple in Hanoi continues to enthrall visitors today with its burning incense sticks filling the air with their aromatic scent. The flickering flames cast an enchanting glow upon this sacred space dedicated to worship and reflection. Mrs. Fred Taylor epitomizes elegance in her attire from 1914 - a long-tasseled dress boasting vibrant shades green paired with an exquisite skullcap. This ensemble exemplifies how fashion embraced this captivating gemstone during that era. Moving beyond fashion, we encounter stunning works of art crafted from jade throughout history. An 18th-century lobed lotus-petal bowl catches our eye with its delicate foliate handles showcasing both grace and functionality. A saber dating back to the 19th century reminds us that even weapons were embellished with this precious stone.
