"James Jenkins: A Heroic Journey Through History" Step into the world of James Jenkins, a courageous figure who left an indelible mark on some of history's most significant events. From cutting out the Hermione from the harbour of Porto Cavailo in 1799 to witnessing the chaos and desperation of "Sauve qui peut, " every man for himself during the Battle of Pyrenees in 1813, James Jenkins was always at the forefront. As we explore his life further, we find ourselves standing amidst the aftermath of Waterloo, gazing upon a view of the village just one day after that fateful battle in June 1815. Thomas Sutherland's aquatint captures not only its devastation but also serves as a testament to Jenkins' resilience. Jenkins' bravery shines through again as he defends the breach at St Jean d'Acre on May 8th, 1799. The scene immortalized by an engraving from 1815 showcases his unwavering determination amidst adversity. Tragedy strikes during Sir John Moore's death in La Coruna, Spain on January 17th, 1809. In this moment captured by another artwork from 1815, we witness both grief and admiration for a fallen comrade. The Allied commanders at Leipzig gather together under Thomas Sutherland's brush strokes; it is here that Jenkins plays his part once more. His strategic prowess contributes significantly to their triumph against all odds in this pivotal battle fought in 1813. June 16th, 1815 brings us to Quatre Bras where yet again Thomas Sutherland masterfully portrays James Jenkins amid fierce combat, and is within these chaotic scenes that our hero demonstrates his unwavering dedication to duty and honor. May Wellington enters Salamanca with grandeur on May20th, 1813 - Matthew Dubourg skillfully captures this historic moment when victory crowns their efforts thanks partly due to Jenkins' unwavering commitment.
