Johan Limbourg, a renowned artist of the 15th century, left an indelible mark on the art world with his exquisite creations. Born in April between 1412 and 1416, Johan was part of the esteemed Limbourg family, known for their exceptional talent. In December at the Chateau de Vincennes, Johan's artistic prowess shone through as he captured the essence of this magnificent structure. The intricate details brought to life by his brushstrokes transported viewers back to the vibrant atmosphere of the 15th century. Moving on to October at the Louvre, Johan collaborated with Jean Colombe to create a masterpiece that showcased their combined genius. Their work depicted not only architectural marvels but also conveyed emotions and stories within each stroke. September saw another collaboration between Johan and Jean Colombe at the Chateau de Saumur. Together they breathed life into their artwork, capturing every nuance and detail that made this historical site so captivating. July took us to Poitiers where Johan's solo creation mesmerized all who beheld it. His attention to detail was evident as he meticulously painted each element of the Chateau, transporting viewers back in time. May introduced us to Jean Limbourg's unique style in Riom. While inspired by his brother Paul's techniques from earlier works such as those seen in April at Chateau de Dourdan or March at Chateau de Lusignan alongside Jean Colombe; Jean added his own flair which captivated audiences worldwide. February presented a breathtaking scene depicting a village blanketed under snow created solely by Paul Limbourg himself. The delicate brushwork portrayed both beauty and tranquility amidst nature's wintry embrace. November showcased Jean Colombe's talent as he skillfully illustrated pigs feeding on acorns - an everyday scene transformed into artistry that evoked nostalgia for simpler times. August transported us to another enchanting chateau, this time in Etampes.
