Born in 1813, he would go on to become one of America's most renowned explorers, soldiers, and even a presidential candidate. The first image shows Colonel Fremont between 1855 and 1865, captured by an unknown artist. Dressed in military attire with a commanding presence, his determination is palpable. Moving forward in time, we encounter an engraving depicting Colonel Fremont as the Republican Candidate for the American Presidency. This portrayal showcases his political aspirations during a tumultuous era. Next up is a portrait from the 19th century by William Smith Jewett.
