John Collins: A Name Woven into History - From 18th century textiles to 19th century portraits and Native American lore. John Collins (British), the creator of the intricately designed Copperplate Printed Cotton in 1765, paved the way for textile innovation. Fast forward to the 1830s, Collins' name resurfaced at the British Coffee House during the National Convention on the 4th of February 1839. Meanwhile, in the American West, Big Elk, also known as Ontopanga, a chief of the Omaha tribe on the upper Missouri River, left his mark on history around the same time. The connections between these historical figures, separated by time and continents, are as intriguing as the stories they each carry.
