In 1972 and 1973, riding his powerful Matchless bike, John showcased his immense talent by clinching victory in the Senior Manx Grand Prix. In 1974 and 1983, he once again proved himself as a force to be reckoned with by winning the Senior Classic Manx Grand Prix astride his trusty Matchless steed.
