In 1897, he painted "The Strange Thing Little Kiosai Saw in the River, " an enigmatic masterpiece that left viewers mesmerized by its mysterious allure. La Farge's talent was evident even in his early works like "Snow Field, Morning, Roxbury" from 1864, where he skillfully captured the serene beauty of nature. Not limited to landscapes and still life, La Farge also excelled in portraiture as seen in his captivating depiction of "William James" circa 1859.
