King Charles X of France, the last Bourbon monarch, ruled during a tumultuous period in French history. Known for his conservative policies and attempts to restore absolute monarchy, he faced opposition from liberals and revolutionaries. His reign was marked by economic struggles, political unrest, and ultimately led to the July Revolution of 1830 which resulted in his abdication. Despite his efforts to hold onto power, King Charles X's legacy is one of failure and defeat as he was forced into exile after just six years on the throne. His downfall symbolized the end of an era for the French monarchy and paved the way for a more democratic form of government in France. Today, he is remembered as a controversial figure whose actions contributed to the transformation of France into a constitutional monarchy.
