"Leszynka: A Royal Legacy and Prayers for a Dolphin's Birth" In the 18th century, Leszynka became synonymous with the remarkable life of Queen Mary Leszczynska, wife of Louis XV of France. This captivating tale begins with Fr Archangel of St Joseph, Prior of the Billettes, who was entrusted by Queen Mary to visit the church of Saint Anne on her behalf. Her fervent request? To seek God's blessing for the birth of a dolphin. On that fateful day, June 28, 1729, as Fr Archangel knelt before Saint Anne d'Auray in prayerful supplication, little did he know that his plea would soon be answered. The ex-voto dedicated to Saint Anne stands as a testament to this extraordinary event. The grandeur surrounding Marie Leszczynska continued when she wedded Louis XV at the majestic castle of Fontainebleau on September 5, 1725. Jan Lamsvelt immortalized this momentous occasion through an enchanting engraving from the same era. Marie Lescszinska herself was captured in various portraits throughout history - Alexis Simon Belle masterfully painted her regal presence while Maurice depicted her grace and elegance. These images serve as windows into her world and allow us to glimpse into the life led by this esteemed queen. Among these portraits lies one particularly intriguing artwork - "Portrait of Mary Leszczynska and the Dolphin. " It symbolizes not only her desire for motherhood but also showcases her deep connection with nature and its wonders. Mary Lescszinska's reign as Queen consort lasted from 1703 until 1768 when she passed away. However, even after centuries have passed since her time on earth ended, artists like Louis continue to capture her essence through their evocative paintings.
