The Life of the Virgin, depicted through various artistic mediums, offers a glimpse into the profound significance and enduring legacy of Mary. In Ms Hunter 229 f. 17v, an Angel holds a vacant scroll while presenting a palm to the Blessed Virgin, symbolizing her purity and victory over sin. Below, she shows the palm to S. John and other Apostles, underscoring her role as their spiritual guide. Moving forward in time to The Fifteen Mysteries and the Virgin of the Rosary (Modern Impression), created in 1488, we witness devotion towards Mary reaching new heights. This piece captures the collective prayers offered by believers as they contemplate significant events from her life. In MS 300 f. 281r, Collects, sermons and lessons for the Assumption highlight Mary's assumption into heaven – a momentous occasion celebrated by Christians worldwide. This manuscript serves as a testament to how her story continues to inspire faith even centuries later. An ivory plaque titled "The Journey to Bethlehem" transports us back in time between 1100-1120 AD when artists sought to immortalize scenes from Mary's life on small yet intricate surfaces. Here we see Joseph leading their journey with tender care while pregnant with Jesus. "The Death of the Virgin, " an etching and drypoint artwork from 1639 AD depicts one of humanity's most poignant moments – Mary's passing away surrounded by loved ones who mourn her loss deeply but are also filled with hope due to their unwavering belief in resurrection. Mary offering doves at the temple is beautifully captured within stained glass windows dating back to 1864 AD; this detail showcases her devoutness and dedication towards religious rituals. "The Birth of The Virgin, " painted around c. 1620 AD on canvas illustrates joyous anticipation surrounding Mary's arrival into this world - an event that would eventually lead up to Jesus' birth which changed history forever.
