Livestock farming is a timeless practice that spans across continents and cultures. From the rugged Norwegian Fjord Horse trotting gracefully through snow-covered landscapes to the majestic Fleckvieh cattle, a bull grazing on a lush meadow, these animals are at the heart of this age-old tradition. In Turkey's Eastern Anatolia Region, a flock of sheep peacefully grazes in front of Mount Ararat, creating an awe-inspiring sight against the backdrop of Dogubayazit. Meanwhile, in Portugal's picturesque countryside, a domestic pot-bellied pig named Sus scrofa domestica adds charm and character to its European surroundings. The bond between humans and livestock is beautifully captured by Max Liebermann's 19th-century painting depicting a girl with her beloved cow. This connection transcends time and reminds us of our deep-rooted relationship with these gentle creatures. As we venture into Germany's Alpine region, cows dotting the landscape create an idyllic scene in Oberstdorf and Oberstaufen. These hardworking animals contribute not only to dairy production but also maintain the balance within their natural habitats. History reveals fascinating glimpses into livestock farming practices around the world. In Kentucky during 1940, mountaineers and farmers traded mules and horses on "Jockey St. " in Campton—a testament to how vital these animals were for transportation and agricultural work. Across oceans in California's Imperial Valley during 1939, Dorothea Lange captures sheep grazing by an irrigation canal—an image that symbolizes sustenance provided by livestock amidst arid landscapes. Similarly, another photograph shows a young girl tending her calf near Medford, Oregon—highlighting how even small-scale farmers play crucial roles in nurturing future generations of livestock caretakers. Lastly, Dorothea Lange’s lens transports us back to Fresno County along U. S. Route 99 during 1939 where we see a cattle chute and part of a corral.
