"Louis Marie Lante: A Glimpse into 19th Century European Fashion" Step back in time and meet Louis Marie Lante, a talented artist who captured the essence of fashion in the 19th century. Through his intricate illustrations, we are transported to different corners of Europe, where young girls and women proudly display their unique styles. In Carovilli, Italy, we encounter a young girl adorned with an artfully folded kerchief around her head. The symmetrical motley of gold braid and embroidery on her dress adds a touch of elegance to her peasant attire. Traveling north to Kell am See, Germany, we find another peasant girl wearing a small bonnet over long pigtails. Her straw hat decorated with knots showcases her creativity and attention to detail. Heading west to Lucerne, Switzerland, our eyes are drawn to a young woman sporting footless stockings and a thick troche or bourrelet hat. Her distinctive outfit reflects the traditional fashion of the Canton. Marie Anne Cuppi takes center stage as Miss La Camargo – a renowned ballet dancer from the 18th century.
