The Maison du Roi, also known as the Kings House or Breadhouse, is a magnificent building located in Brussels, Belgium. Situated in the iconic Grand Place, this architectural masterpiece comes to life at night when it is beautifully illuminated. As you stroll through the enchanting streets of Brussels after sunset, your eyes are drawn to the mesmerizing sight of the Grand Place lit up like a fairytale. The Maison du Roi stands proudly among other guildhalls, creating a breathtaking view that captures the essence of this historic city. Stepping closer to admire its intricate details, you can't help but be captivated by Eugene Titeux's artwork displayed within its walls. Mousquetaires Noirs dressed in petite tenue from 1814-15 come alive on canvas, transporting you back in time and immersing you in their world. Delving deeper into history, Antoine Jean De Fehrt's Garde de la porte painting from 1756 depicts guardians standing tall at the entrance of Maison du Roi. Their presence evokes a sense of protection and grandeur that has stood strong for centuries. Eugene Titeux's Gardes-du-Corps de Monsieur artwork showcases soldiers clad in regal attire from 1814. Their uniforms exude elegance and honor as they stand guard outside this majestic building. The Gendarme de la Garde (Maison du Roi) Porte-Etendard engraving takes us even further back to 1814. This colored depiction portrays an esteemed gendarme carrying his flag with pride and dignity. Traveling back even earlier in time brings us to an engraving depicting a Gendarme from 1593 alongside a Captain of the First Company of Enfants d'Honneur. These historical figures remind us of Belgium's rich heritage and its enduring traditions.
