One such tower stands proudly in Fort Grey, Rocquaine Bay, Guernsey, nestled within the beautiful Channel Islands. Its imposing structure with walls up to 11 feet thick and surrounded by a dry moat showcases its formidable defense capabilities. Venturing across the Atlantic to North America, another they are be discovered on St. George's Island in Bermuda. Built by the British Army in 1883, this tower was strategically positioned at Ferry Reach to protect the main channel into Bermuda. Standing tall against the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean, it serves as a testament to historical military prowess. In Howth County Dublin, Ireland lies yet another remarkable Martello Tower that has been transformed into a Museum Of Vintage Radio. This unique adaptation preserves history while offering visitors an opportunity to explore Ireland's rich radio heritage. Moving back towards Jersey in June 1925 brings us to Archirondel & St Catherines Bay where another Martello Tower once stood guard over these picturesque shores. It served as a reminder of past conflicts and now remains only in memories and photographs. As we journey through history and geography alike, we stumble upon Sandgate Castle and The Wish Tower - both remnants of Britain's coastal defenses that include these resilient structures known as Martello Towers. Finally arriving at Aldeburgh Suffolk England unveils the largest and most northerly tower within this chain built by the Board of Ordnance to keep out Napoleon.
