Greetings from Mhow, a historic town nestled in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, India. Known for its rich heritage and military significance, it has witnessed countless tales of bravery and camaraderie. In the early days, British infantry barracks stood tall in this land, serving as a testament to their presence. The cavalry barracks too echoed with the sound of horses' hooves as soldiers prepared for battle. The Camp was a bustling hub where soldiers trained and prepared themselves for the challenges that lay ahead. Tommy Atkins in India - an engraving capturing the spirit of our brave soldiers on their march from Kamptee to Mhow. Their determination and resilience knew no bounds. The messhouse of the 72nd Regiment and adjoining quarters showcased architectural marvels recently built in the New Lines area. These structures were not just buildings but also symbols of unity among officers who called them home. New Barracks at Mhow proudly housed the 72nd Regiment or Duke of Albany's Own Highlanders. These engravings depict their unwavering dedication towards safeguarding our nation's borders. Sketches from Mhow offer glimpses into daily life within this vibrant community. From marketplaces teeming with activity to serene landscapes that captivate hearts, every corner tells a unique story waiting to be discovered. Private theatricals by Inniskilling Dragoons brought entertainment and joy amidst challenging times. Even amidst duty-bound lives, they found solace in creativity and shared laughter with fellow comrades. However, history also bears witness to darker moments like Colonel Platt's tragic demise at the hands of mutineers in c1860. It serves as a reminder that even heroes face adversity but never lose sight of their mission. As we journey through time into early 20th century Cantonment life at Mhow, we see how it evolved while still preserving its essence. This place continues to honor those who have sacrificed everything for our nation's safety.
