The mint plant family is a diverse and fascinating group of plants that offer a range of benefits and beauty. From the Scaredy cat plant, also known as Coleus canina Hybr. , which drives away cats and dogs with its unique scent, to the Phlomis fruticosa, or Jerusalem Sage, a densely branched shrub adorned with vibrant yellow flowers. In this family, we also find the Salvia officinalis, commonly known as Common Sage. This aromatic herb has been used for centuries in cooking and herbal medicine due to its distinct flavor and medicinal properties. Another member of this family is the Garland flower or Rose Daphne -Daphne cneorum-, native to Styria, Austria in Europe. Its delicate pink flowers add a touch of elegance to any garden. Bugleweed -Ajuga reptans Atropurpurea- is another notable member of this plant family. With its deep purple foliage and small blue flowers, it creates an enchanting ground cover. Ocimum basilicum, better known as Sweet Basil plant growing in soil provides not only culinary delight but also offers numerous health benefits. Illustrated here is Galeopsis tetrahit (Common Hemp-nettle), showcasing its distinctive leaves and charming pink flowers. This versatile plant has been used for various purposes throughout history. Purple Betony or Bishops Wort (Stachys officinalis) adds a splash of color with its vibrant purple blooms while Yellow Monkey-flower (Mimulus luteus) brightens up any landscape with its cheerful yellow petals. The Common Jasmine -Jasminum officinale- enchants us with its intoxicating fragrance during flowering season. Its delicate white blossoms are often associated with love and romance. Calceolaria spec Hybrid calynopsis orange-, commonly referred to as Ladys Purse or Slipper Flower captivates our attention with its unique shape and vibrant orange color.
